Introduction

This DRAM Controller core provides two basic benefits:
  • A simple and convenient tool to achieve high system performance.
  • Cost and PCB area reduction, by using the combination of DRAM and Multiport core instead of multiple external memories (e.g. FIFO etc.)
  • The PROCMultiPort™ DRAM Controller provides a flexible interface to DRAM. It allows the definition of multiple ports, each with it's own characteristic parameters.

Key Features:
  • Each port has it's own clock
  • Each port (and memory) can work with a different data width
  • Simple interface (similar to synchronous FIFO) for Sequential ports
  • Straightforward random memory access with Random ports.
  • Possibility of progressing in Segmented Mode.
  • Minimum external delay; DRAM controlled directly from DFF's.
  • DRAM zero wait state
  • Automatic arbitration between ports, with priority given to random access ports
  • Allows burst DRAM access with unlimited burst length.
  • Automatic generation of refresh cycles at background.
